Harper

Hi, I’m Harper!

I’m a sweet, smart female Shar-Pei, and as you can see I am super cute.   I am great in my crate, rarely bark, ok on a leash, food motivated and housetrained.  I am a little velcro dog once I build trust. I have been working hard at learning new important commands including nonverbal leave it, come, sit, down and, touch ❤️ I am such an obedient and smart little girl❤️I LOVE hiking! An active family who likes to take their pups on walks and hikes once a week would be great for me.  Check out my cute video below! My foster family has been working on building my confidence.  I’m still a little nervous in busy places, but we went shopping at bass pro this weekend. I was showing off my adopt me bandana and spreading word about the rescue ❤️ I am a little nervous at first when we go to the store with all the loud sounds, but I calm down after about 5 minutes and will lay down as people walk around me. I was even approaching people when they came up to say hi and give scratches! I also went on a fun trip with a whole gang of other Shar-Pei and was such a good girl!

I lived with many dogs in the past and have been doing great with my foster siblings and enjoy playing with them, but I am fearful at first and will need time to adjust to any new canine siblings. We also think I will be able to live with cats ❤️ I have been really good with the cats that I have met visiting my Foster Grandma. They haven’t run away yet; so if I am adopted to someone with cats, they will need to take extra precautions and watch how I handle the cats running away. I have been good about not bothering them when Foster Mommy tells me to leave them alone.

I am quite a determined escape artist; so I need a home with a secure, sturdy, six foot fence or other precautions where my family is able to be very careful that I do not escape until I am settled and feel safe.  A home without young kids would be best because I am crafty and will find a way to escape with children coming and going. I am very timid until I develop trust, so I will need a home able to keep a very close eye on any exits and use good equipment (collar AND harness/2 leashes) on me outside until I don’t feel like I need to run away. Foster Mommy says that once I build that trust, I really am a perfect dog!

I had my entropion and spay surgeries on 9/9 and am now ready to go to my furever home!  If I sound like the girl for you, please get your application in and be sure to ask for adorable Harper ❤️
