Baby Delta is doing great! Here is a fabulous update from Apple and Delta’s loving and attentive Foster Mommy:
At 5 weeks, Delta knows her name and comes a running! She crashes after about 30mins of play. Delta loves a variety of toys from tackle dummy bears for wrestling, to tennis balls, to chew bones and even knots tied into pieces of rope. This week she is practicing picking up and carrying off her toys. Delta has a walk-in toy box, cardboard tray with one side cut away. An elf sneaks in and puts all her toys away. She enjoys finding them all over again.
Delta has learned to drink water and is eating softened dry dog food to supplement her cereal with puppy milk replacer. She is eating her dry mixed with a little canned dog food to entice her.
Delta is very intelligent and human responsive, as most single pups are. She has a great appetite. She is growing physically and mentally so fast it is hard to keep her challenged.
Delta sleeps alone part of the time and with Apple about 1/4 of the time. When she wakes up, she goes to the kennel door and “speaks” /cries to be let out to potties. If I’m not around, she uses the puppy paper at the far corner which is inside a horse pellet litter tray. Delta, I expect, will instantly learn to go outside….once the weather warms up.
Delta has the extra skin of a Pei pup. She’s got enough skin for 2 puppies! You can see the wrinkles on her nose/muzzle.
